As a retired university professor, I know good teaching when I see it. Jennifer possesses all the qualities of an excellent teacher: clear organization and explanations, attention to detail, enthusiasm, willingness to answer questions, ability to address the needs of all her students, and all with an appropriate dose of humor. The fact that she has a group of committed, long-time students is evidence of the quality of her teaching.

The style of yoga that Jennifer teaches has a therapeutic approach that addresses current issues students have as well as helps them avoid future pain and injury. Personally I can say that she helped me recover from two serious injuries (one being a torn tendon in my ankle) and that I have fewer aches and pains now that I am approaching my 70th birthday than I had when I was in my forties and fifties.

Jennifer is an excellent teacher - bringing just the right combination of humor, fun, and expertise. She has built a generous yoga community through her classes, and her ability to transition to Zoom because of the pandemic was a huge part of how I maintained my physical and emotional health. Six years ago I was experiencing pain in my hip and had difficulty walking more than a few blocks without discomfort.  Arthritis runs in my family; my dad and sister had hip replacements.  An orthopedic surgeon diagnosed arthritis, and said that likely in two years I would need hip replacement, and that I would know when I felt the need to follow up.  I met with Jennifer on the recommendation of a friend, who had shared that Jennifer practiced a therapeutic approach to yoga.  I had never practiced yoga before, and was fearful of additional injury to my hip.  From day one,  Jennifer has personalized our sessions and guided me—a true beginner—with patience, encouraging “pushes,” and caring, thoughtful direction.  Our sessions and my attending her classes have led to enormous improvement of my hip, and boosted my confidence.  I have been able to take long walks with no discomfort and have learned how helpful to body and mind attention to alignment and thoughtful practice of poses can be.  Jennifer is an excellent teacher both in private sessions and classes, whether in person or on Zoom.  She cultivates a great sense of community and good-natured exchange in her classes, teaches with an organized plan, and keeps in clear tune to individual students’ levels and special needs—a special combination of warmth, expertise, firmness, and flexibility!
